There is a saying in the business world that great CEO's get everyone in the right seat on the bus. Meaning that they put people in the role that best suits them.
God as the ultimate CEO wants to get all of us in the right seat.
If you are interested in finding out what seat he has for you then check out Ephesians 2:6 today.
The other day I was short on time to workout so I condensed everything down to the most bang for the buck movements. I was looking for exercises that combine strength, speed, and a high level of work into one. This workout only takes 20-30 minutes but is very effective.
Some of these movements are a little more advanced, so I wouldn't recommend this for someone just getting started, but if you have some experience give it a try.
Last night my kids were playing in the backyard, and one of my daughters came running in the house saying something stung her finger and that it was hurting.
We calmed her down but then about 20 minutes later she started freaking out because her finger was getting pretty swollen.
First, we prayed asking God to heal it, and then I had her take communion. As she ate the bread I had her visualize the pain and swelling being put on the body of Jesus, and then while taking the juice we talked about how God is always working for our good and we can trust in his unfailing love for us.
Then we had a conversation about what I call the point of contact.
I was once giving a baseball lesson to a 10 year old kid. As we were going through the lesson he started to struggle.
He began to hit every ball straight into the ground and became very frustrated. After several swings like this I stopped and showed him how to fix the problem. His swing was good but at the...
We are now a couple of weeks past Pentecost. The next markers on God's calendar are the Feast of Trumpets ( Sept 18) and the Day of Atonement( Sept 28).
I like to think of the Day of Atonement as a major deadline for the year. What goal or project would you like to see accomplished by Sept 28th?
Here are some themes to be thinking about in this season.
Ephesians 2:6 says we have been seated in heavenly places with Christ. Keep your position. What is trying to pull you out of your seat?
Have you ever been in a bad mood and let it steal your day?
Someone once commented to me about the Abundant Life Blueprint that I just thought everything was going to be great all the time. Nothing could be further from the truth. To build an abundant life we must learn how to handle issues and to master our emotions in tough situations.
Here is one of the most powerful ways I have learned to turn around a bad mood in an instant... take communion.
Visualize God pouring his wrath and Jesus so that we now have his cup of blessing. Remember that God is with you and he can turn situations quickly.
It is very powerful to put something physical we do paired with spiritual principles. It unites our whole spirit, soul, and body into one. Taking communion can be symbolic of letting the situation go and turning it over to God.
Communion is one of the most powerful ways to transform our emotional state.
At our house we keep a box of Matzo crackers and grape juice on hand and if my emotions...
What if God wants to do more through us today, than we can ask or dream or imagine?
I think too often we put everything out into the future when God says TODAY is the day of his favor.
If you feel like every day is just more of the same here is a 1 Day Challenge to try.
Think about what would be an amazing day, a miraculous day. Think about it in every area... connection with God, full of peace and joy, purpose, health, family, finances, order, time, and community.
What would happen in 1 day that you knew it had to be God causing it to happen?
Once you have your answers write them down and pray over them asking God to help you make it happen. Just a very simple prayer, but the key is to firm up your believing. Believe at the moment that you pray that God heard you and is answering your prayer.
Then go about your day with joy. Wake up like a kid on Christmas morning, full of joy and expectation. Then throughout the day only focus the plan. There may be things...
Yesterday I was playing basketball with the neighborhood kids. One of the kids was on the team that was losing and he kept getting down saying that he couldn't have fun because they were losing. As soon as this mental shift happened his play got a lot worse because he wasn't playing hard any more.
So I told him that when I played baseball in college I once had a series of bad games because I was putting too much pressure on myself to do well. Then I decided to focus on enjoying playing the game, rather than stressing over winning and losing. When I made the mental switch all of the sudden my results improved and I had several of the best games of my college career.
I told him the key was to have fun first. Enjoy playing the game and then you will be more likely to win, but if you have to win to enjoy the game then you are less likely to win.
Then all of the sudden he started having fun and playing great.
This can be applied to pretty much anything. Focus on...
The other day I was getting started with my workout and wasn't feeling it. But then I remembered that while playing baseball in college some of my best games happened when I wasn't feeling the best.
There was one game when I felt horrible in warm-ups and then had one of my best games.
So I continued with my workout, did some extra warm-ups, and actually set a couple of new bests.
In life there will be times when we are not feeling it. It could be your kids or spouse want to do something with you, working out, working on a project, reading the Bible, prayer time, etc. Often some of the greatest breakthroughs and memories happen in the times when we are not feeling it.
At the end of 2018 I felt a nudge that God wanted me to work on a yearly plan with him. So the day after Christmas I sat upstairs working on my plan and when I finished my daughter was playing with a toy ice cream set. She said " I need to get back to selling my ice cream." So I asked how she sells her ice cream and she said " 61." I asked several times because her answer made no sense and she kept responding with "61."
Then I heard on the inside " Go read Isaiah 61."
Isaiah 61 is the passage that Jesus reads from the scroll and the title of that chapter is The Year of the Lord's Favor.
After this confirmation there were many ups and downs through the year but the end result was that God prompted me to shut down my gym business at the end of 2019 and start a new business called the Abundant Life Training Center.
At the time when I was transitioning it didn't all make sense but I knew God was prompting me to make the shift. Looking back now it has been a...
